Often when the topic of change management is discussed in data communities, the general focus centers around the governance or management of changes to the models, definitions, structures, or responsibilities related to an organization’s data strategy. While data strategists and stewards facilitate the vision for achieving an effective data-driven, decision-making organization, true business transformation, and data strategy success is optimized when all impacted users understand and effectively implement the processes necessary for collecting clean data.
In this session, we will examine data from the employee user’s point of view (POV). We will discuss why looking through the “What’s in it for Me?” (WIIFM) lens should be a critical driver and factor for any business leader (CEO to CDO to team manager) when devising a tactical approach for implementing a successful data strategy. Specifically, we will share leading practices for:
- Overcoming uncertainty to drive behavior change for adopting new processes related to collecting clean data
- Moving users beyond their comfort zone to motivate movement
- Getting past half-baked tactical and communications plans
- Assessing change and process fatigue to navigate competing priorities and implementation landmines
- Relating the need and value of data quality and data integrity at the role level
